Stocks and oil prices plunged again Thursday on spreading fears about the health of China’s economy. The market suffered its worst day in more than three months, with tech and financial stocks hit the hardest.
The Dow Jones industrial average sank 392.41 points, or 2.3 per cent, to 16,514.10.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index fell 47.17 points, or 2.4 per cent, to 1,943.09.
The Nasdaq composite index dropped 146.34 points, or 3 per cent, to 4,689.43.

The Dow is down 910.93 points, or 5.2 per cent.
The S&P 500 is down 100.85 points, or 4.9 per cent.
The Nasdaq is down 317.98 points, or 6.4 per cent.
